Is It Plantar Fasciitis or a Heel Spur?
Plantar fasciitis is inflammation of the tissue on the bottom of the foot that connects the heel bone to the toes. It usually causes a stabbing pain early in the morning with the first step. The pain caused by plantar fasciitis typically decreases over the course of a day, but may return when standing for a long period of time. This is different from a heel spur, which is a calcium deposit that causes a bony protrusion on the bottom of the heel bone.
